  • Overview

    Responsible for the maintenance and repair for all vehicles & equipment in the Transportation Department; serves as next in charge in the absence of the manager;  helping to resolve matters related to the daily operation, appointment scheduling, etc.


    • Conducts a daily random inspection of several transportation vehicles & develops and implements corrective actions if needed.
    • Monitors the state inspections for all fleet vehicles, registrations, regular inspections & state police inspections
    • Serves as a backup driver/dispatcher when necessary
    • Works cooperatively with other in the department
    • Serves on various committees as requested by the Manager
    • Able to do light mechanical duties – replace wiper blades, head lights, tire repairs, read service when necessary, lockouts, etc.
    • Able to run vehicles back & forth to vendors & follow up on the status of repairs & report to the manager
    • Maintain a clean & organized garage/office
    • Maintain & help with fuel logs & repairs
    • Help organize special event & transporting if needed


    • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. 
    • Three years minimum related experience required. 
    • Excellent health and ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. Prior automotive repair & maintenance required. 
    • Must be CDL/School Bus credentialed within 6 months of hire date. 
    • Woods Services will provide training. 
    • Be capable of passing the School Bus Drivers Physical Exam each year & be recertified as a School Bus Driver every 4 years. 
    • Must be able to read, write, enter dates, follow verbal/written instructions, prepare written reports & complete written forms in English. 
    • Must be able to verbally communicate in English.
