  • Overview

    The Instruction Supervisor will manage the instructional programs in Woods schools to ensure adherence to educational standards and compliance requirements. The Supervisor will communicate with classroom teachers, staff and parents and monitor the parent involvement component of the program. They will ensure the implementation of quality programming and customer satisfaction through problem solving and frequent communication.  The Instructional Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the assigned school.  Will serve as a member of the administrative staff for the schools and the leadership team.  They will provide daily supervision to all educational staff and exhibit high enthusiasm on the job.


    • Reports directly to the Principal who is responsible for the day-to-day activities within the current laws of the State of Pennsylvania for the overall education program.
    • Fills in for the Principal when needed.
    • Maintains contact with local districts and child study team members on a regular basis.
    • Communicates with school officials regarding design, implementation and evaluation of instructional programs.
    • Responsible for all grant/proposal writing for school programs.
    • Responsible for the gathering, submission, and accuracy of all records, data collection, etc., pertaining to student academic information.
    • Prepares, when directed, all appropriate reports, etc., for review and approval by the Principal of Schools in a timely fashion.
    • Observes/evaluates teachers and school staff in academics and makes appropriate recommendations for continued employment through the Principal.
    • Responsible in the assigned school for the ongoing recruitment/intakes of students.
    • Plans/reviews an appropriate school curriculum for annual approval by the Principal of Schools or Central office Administration.
    • Accepts all special assignments given by the Principal or Central Office Administration in a cooperative manner.
    • Responsible for any miscellaneous duties as assigned, by the Principal or Central office Administration.
    • Help with the identification and implementation of active engagement in our classrooms through evidenced based instructional and behavioral practices.
    • Assists the Principal in hiring, training, monitoring and evaluating the performance of teachers/reading specialists.
    • Provides leadership in the supervision of teachers regarding implementation of the instructional program including improvement of instruction to meet program goals and benchmarks
    • Coordinates efforts to obtain maximum utilization of facilities, equipment, materials and teacher time to provide an optimal learning environment at multiple sites in multiple LEAs
    • Reviews student assessment data monitor for assessment driven instruction as well as coach and model effective research-based instructional methods and strategies
    • Assists in the planning and implementation of professional development on effective instruction as well as goals, regulations and procedures of the program
    • Participates in planning sessions, gathering program information and review of instructional materials and assessments. Monitor the completion and submission of required documentation.
    • Trains and supervises teachers and staff regarding active engagement in the classroom. Supervision to include informal and formal lesson observations (formal to include Pre/PEP-conference, scheduled lesson observations and Post-conference.)
    • Provides assistance to teachers in the development of class schedules and instructional strategies to meet the needs of all participating students.
    • Participates and supports the school positive behavior support program at the schools.
    • Maintains positive working relationships with all management, peer and subordinate employees.
    • Responsible for any miscellaneous duties as assigned.


    • Requires a PA teaching certificate, master’s degree, and supervisory certification.
    • A minimum of five years’ experience in teaching and two years’ experience in a supervisory position.
    • Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with teachers, students, administrators and parents.  
    • Strong PC skills preferred.
    • Must be able to read, write, enter dates and follow verbal/written directions, prepare written reports and complete written forms in English.
    • Must be able to verbally communicate in English and direct clients, respond to clients’ needs.
    • Must be 21 years of age and must be able to verbally communicate emergency information in English over the phone.
    • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, be agile, physically pursue clients on foot, physically restrain (with appropriate training), bend, squat, reach, push up and stand for several hours at a time.
    • Prior to employment, medical certification and child abuse/criminal history/FBI clearances are required.
