Provides psychological services and behavioral support to assigned consumers, and provides consultation to other professionals or members of the interdisciplinary teams. Such services and supports will include the development of behavior support programs and the provision of individual, group, and/or family therapies. Conduct psychological assessments of consumers, including functional analyses and psychometric evaluations. Assists their assigned program areas by providing clinical leadership and guidance regarding the implementation of treatment strategies and the development and maintenance of a healthy living environment. Identify and provide training to direct care and professional staff on topics relevant to work performance.


  • Develop consumer behavior change strategies that derive from appropriately conducted functional, structural, and/or diagnostic analyses. Such change strategies may include behavior modification programs, psycho-educational instruction strategies, various forms of individual, group, or family therapy, or any other such behavior change strategy that is consistent with both pertinent regulatory standards and good practice standards
  • Monitor the efficacy of all clinical behavior change strategies with objective data
  • Participate in medication reviews with the program psychiatrist and other parties, providing objective data to assist the psychiatrist in his/her deliberation
  • Attend ISP/IHP meetings, providing clinical leadership, and functioning as a member of treatment teams. Participate in Treatment Review meetings. Offer clinical assessment and guidance regarding treatment approaches and behavior management
  • Provide crisis management and facilitate emergency psychiatric hospitalization of clients when necessary, under the supervision of the Clinical Director/Administrator. Serve as a liaison between Woods and the psychiatric hospital during the consumer’s hospital stay. Facilitate the consumer’s eventual return to Woods
  • Complete Monthly Summaries of client progress; enters progress notes as required by supervisor
  • Conducts Pre-Admission evaluations and completes a Pre-Admission Assessment report. Presents this information during the Admissions Committee Meeting
  • Conduct psychological evaluations in accordance with professional knowledge, training, skills, and experience under supervision of a licensed psychologist; develops reports and assessments as requested
  • Participate in the orientation of new staff and the training and education of current staff through the provision of inservice training
  • Confer with team members regarding client needs, status, and progress and provide expertise to employees in understanding the psychological strengths and weaknesses of clients
  • Serves as liaison to family members and relevant agencies (Crestwood only)
  • Facilitates, monitors and document therapeutic leave for clients
  • Participate in the development and revision of the Comprehensive Biopsychosocial Psychiatric Evaluation and/or Psychological Evaluation
  • Identify training needs and provide inservice training to direct care and other staff;
  • Attend meetings and prepare reports as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Post graduate degree in psychology or related discipline
  • Background in the development and implementation of behavioral interventions and various modalities of psychological treatment in accordance with highest standards of practice
  • Knowledge of psychopathology and normal human development, and experience providing evaluation and treatment of persons with developmental disabilities and/or emotional disorders and persons with challenging behavior
  • Experience in group and individual therapy
  • Expertise/training in the use of psychological assessment tools is preferred
